16/2/2023 Refactor and Tweaks

Oh man this one hurt but it really was quite necessary; the code sucked.

Changes include:

  • Refactored and denested code.
  • Renamed meteors to asteroids to avoid the wrath of astronomers.
  • Tweaked how asteroid polygons generate.
  • Removed the tendency for freshly split asteroids to fly off at high speeds.
  • Set asteroid immunity length to exactly the remaining lifetime of the explosion that split them.
  • Asteroid collision radius is now hardcoded, not based on mass.
  • Score sound effects change based on combo size now, not score amount.
  • Potential performance changes.
  • Slight changes to the difficulty curve- tuned exactly down to 3, 6, and 9 minutes
